Dr. Jody Olsen, Peace Corps Deputy Director, will discuss lessons learned from a career spanning more than 40 years and 80 countries, in conversation with George Scharffenberger, founding Executive Director of the Blum Center for Developing Economies.
The fair is designed to connect students interested in international service with organizations focused on global poverty alleviation. Representatives from student-initiated projects to international NGOs will share information about their volunteer and internship opportunities.
Ambassador Kennedy, a veteran diplomat, will open your eyes to the broad range of international work through the State Department -- both in the Foreign Service and the Civil Service -- that often is not apparent. He will share his own diplomatic experiences of 35 years and his perspective on the wide variety of opportunities to become engaged at the diplomatic level in management, public affairs, business, consular affairs, and more.

Resource RoomA selection of reference materials and handouts on international careers and education will be available, featuring the WorldAffairs Council of Northern California, International and Area Studies, and The Blum Center for Developing Economies. Jeff Wood, one of the premier national experts on global careers, with special expertise in translation, interpretation, and localization management, will be on hand to provide career counseling.
A national expert on global careers will speak about essential tools that you need to succeed in the international arena. Find out critical tips for little known cultural and business practices that can make a world of difference if you plan to work abroad.
Representatives from over 30 top graduate programs in international affairs and international business will provide information about admission requirements and programs.
