  • Going Global - Gather country-specific information on 1000's of companies and read about employment, career, and job search topics for over 25 countries.
  • Career Fields - Explore industries, career paths, and employer directories by field.
  • Job Listing Sites - Identify employers hiring in your career area by using sites with searchable databases.
  • @cal Career Network - Connect with Cal alumni working in your career field of interest, whether you are exploring career options or seeking advice about your job search.
  • Career Fair Directories - Research employers who attended recent career fairs; you'll find a description of the organization, jobs they recruited for, and a link their website.
  • Employer Spotlights - Research employers using information customized for Cal students.
  • Employer Information Sessions - Attend these on-campus meetings to hear from employers hiring Cal students; login to Callisto to identify employers and sign up.
  • Callisto - Your gateway to online Career Center services, exclusively for Cal students and alumni. Callisto grants one-stop access to hundreds of jobs and internships via CalJobs and On-Campus Recruiting (OCR), as well as other essential employment, internship and graduate school resources.

  • Researching Companies Online - Learn how to research companies on the internet with this tutorial program that includes links to resources for employer research.
  • To generate a list of potential employers in a particular career field or industry, try these sites:
    • America's Career InfoNet - Use the employer locator to search a 12 million-company database by region and industry.
    • Idealist - Search through 39,000 nonprofit and community organizations in 165 countries.
    • JobStar: Job Search Guide - Use public library links to industry and company information.
    • SuperPages.com - Use the "category" search feature to access US yellow pages information.
  • For researching large companies, try these sites:
    • Business Week Online Company Research - This tool mines articles in BusinessWeek and Vault to make it easier to research over 4000 companies.
    • Hoovers Online - Provides industry information, as well as information on private, public, IPO, subsidiary and non-US companies.
    • Vault.com - Search companies by industry, location, size and revenue.
  • Search engines can be used to find the employer's website. Examples of search engines include:
  • The most current information about a potential employer can be found in local newspapers and other sources.
    • NewsDirectory.com has an extensive list of links to newspapers and magazines.
    • PR Newswire - Search by industry or by keyword from a database of company press releases for current corporate news.
    • San Francisco Business Times provides local business and industry news, resources, and networking event information.
    • Yahoo! Newspapers links to alternative weeklies and major papers by region.
