The Program

Open to all majors, the University of California Center in Sacramento (UCCS) program gives students from all UC campuses the opportunity to participate in internships tailored to their goals while living and studying only blocks from the Capitol building.

This program provides the unique opportunity to:

  • Earn full semester units
  • Participate in an internship of your choice
  • Become involved in state policy
  • Interact with other UC students

The capstone of the UCCS program is a research seminar led by faculty from several UC campuses and culminates in a research thesis. The seminar is supplemented with an internship experience where students devote 24-33 hrs/wk to special assignments. Past students have interned in the Governor’s Office, state agencies, nonprofits, and with state assembly members. The Center also frequently hosts guest speakers ranging from members of the California legislature and the Executive Branch to state agency officials and UC faculty.
