Policies & ProceduresGetting StartedYour Online Account All About Letters » Where Letters Can Be Sent How to Request Mailings Letter Service OnlineWhere Letters Can Be SentThe Letter Service is obligated to protect the confidentiality of your letters. We verify the outgoing address of all requests and will cancel your request if you have entered a residential or unrecognizable/verifiable address, regardless of purpose or intent. This means that if the chair of a department/committee would like to have letters mailed to their home, we are unable to comply. If a school instructs you to include letters of recommendation with your applications, please do not request for letters to be mailed to you. Simply contact the school and let them know that you are using the Letter Service and that the letters will arrive separately. This is a standard practice among schools and schools have been accepting letters forwarded from the Letter Service for years. If any recipient should refuse to let the letters be mailed separately from the application packet, take down a contact name, contact phone number, and then let us know. We will work out something with them on your behalf. The Letter Service will send your letters of recommendation to:
These policies also apply to copies of non-confidential letters. If you wish to have copies of non-confidential letters sent to schools, you must make online requests for them to be sent directly to your institutions. If you make online requests for letters to be sent to you, these requests will be cancelled. Only unofficial copies of non-confidential letters can be sent to you. Requests for unofficial copies must be sent via email. The first copy of each non-confidential letter is free, subsequent copies will be $1 each. |
